As part of our service to the voluntary and community sector in the Forest of Dean, FVAF provides a focused programme of affordable training opportunities, either through direct delivery or through partnership working. Our training team are knowledgeable, experienced and well qualified – the feedback we get on our courses reflects the quality of our provision with 100% delegate satisfaction from over 100 training sessions.
We carry out an annual survey of training and development needs, in order to ensure our planned programme matches the need of our membership organisations. We also proactively seek funding to reduce the cost to our organisations and react to additional development needs as they arise.
Our courses have included: Safeguarding Children & Young People (Level 2), Safeguarding Adults and Vulnerable People (Level 2), Trustee Training, Food Hygiene (Level 2), First Aid at Work (Level 2 and 3), Leadership Training, Deaf and Disability Awareness, Volunteer Management and Marketing.
In response to demand, we are also developing our own bespoke Forest of Dean Voluntary Leadership Development Programme.
Sally – Great Oaks Hospice
Just wanted to say a huge thank you for such a fabulous training today. Chris is an absolute wizard. He delivered a most informative and insightful training which kept us engaged the whole way through, plus it was the right level of information and interaction, I thoroughly enjoyed it
Pat – Forest Community Church
What an amazing workshop delivered by a truly inspirational young man. He certainly challenged some of our perceptions in a thoughtful and informative way. I’d highly recommend the training to anyone
I don’t really consider myself as a volunteer because what I get back from helping people is even greater than what I give. I feel lucky to be surrounded by likeminded people that simply care about each other and our community. I think FVAF do an excellent job in spreading this ethos and I hope they’ll continue to show people what a joy volunteering can be.
