Education and Training at FVAF

The voluntary action centre for the Forest of Dean

As part of our service to the voluntary and community sector in the Forest of Dean, FVAF provides a focused programme of affordable training opportunities, either through direct delivery or through partnership working. Our training team are knowledgeable, experienced and well qualified – the feedback we get on our courses reflects the quality of our provision with 100% delegate satisfaction from over 100 training sessions.

We carry out an annual survey of training and development needs, in order to ensure our planned programme matches the need of our membership organisations. We also proactively seek funding to reduce the cost to our organisations and react to additional development needs as they arise.

Our courses have included: Safeguarding Children & Young People (Level 2), Safeguarding Adults and Vulnerable People (Level 2), Trustee Training, Food Hygiene (Level 2), First Aid at Work (Level 2 and 3), Leadership Training, Deaf and Disability Awareness, Volunteer Management and Marketing.

Thanks to funding from the Forest of Dean District Council we are able to subsidise training courses for volunteers. To find out more please e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

In response to demand, we are also developing our own bespoke Forest of Dean Voluntary Leadership Development Programme.

We are currently putting together our next training programme. If you would like to request training, please complete our online survey or email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
