The Forest's Volunteer Centre

Forest Voluntary Action Forum is a support and development agency for voluntary activity across the Forest of Dean.

We provide assistance to many of the hundreds of voluntary and community organisations in the District who in turn are better able to deliver their work in and for the local community.

Much of our support is in the form of advice, guidance and information (both targeted and generic) as well as a range of formal training provision and support for volunteering both for the groups who involve volunteers and for people in the community looking for volunteering opportunities. Where appropriate, for example when taking up a position on a local Committee or Board such as the Local Action Group, FVAF advocates for voluntary action. We also provide practical support to groups such as equipment hire and an extensive photocopying service making for a one-stop complete service.

We are a registered charitable company, a membership organisation from which trustees, currently 8 in number, are elected and adhere to nationally recognised quality assurance standards. Whilst anyone can receive information and advice from FVAF, there are also added benefits to being a paid member at just £10 a year. By the end of 2016 FVAF had 60 groups as paid members of the organisation.
