Community Events, Training & So Much More

At FVAF, we not only host our own training and community events, but also work closely with other voluntary and community organisations through the Forest of Dean to help promote theirs.
When People Care Enough to Act
Thursday 15 February 2018, 18:30 - 21:30

Nurturing community action by building powerful citizen-centred local democracy in our communities.

A series of 6 evening study groups using Mike Green’s ground-breaking exposition of strengths-based practice as a kicking-off point to address real local challenges and opportunities in community development.

The course is presented by Bob Rhodes, who is co-founder and Director of LivesthroughFriends which is dedicated to building interdependent communities, helping people (especially those with ‘challenging’ labels) who are dependent upon ‘social care’ to ‘get a life’ and the people and agencies that assist them to be effective contributors to this outcome.

Bob is a Fellow of the Centre Welfare Reform, an FRSA, and active member of the Coproduction Network Wales, long-term facilitator of the Strengths-Based Practice Study Group (Wales & West), Chair of the Forest Voluntary Action Forum, and Trustee/Adviser of several domestic and international NGO’s.
